Nets

Today we were set our first real design brief. It is a week long and involves creating a series of packages. Out tutor pinned up fifteen different nets around the room and from there we had to look closely at each one and weigh up the pros and cons. We were told to pick one from each group of three nets, with the names of the five groups being: Display/Publicity, How to Fold, Mail It, Special Packaging and Structural Packaging. This proved more difficult than first thought because it is incredibly hard to tell what they will look like when laid flat on a piece of paper. Thats why in the afternoon session we were told to cut out and assemble as many as possible to gain a better insight into their 3D shapes.

Below are the complete set of nets that we were faced with. The first set are from 'How to Fold', the second from 'Mail It', the third from 'Special Packaging' and the fourth from 'Structural Packaging'. The set above this text are from 'Display/Publicity'.

Below are a few images of what just a couple of these nets look like when assembled.
