Reimagined Logo

Basically I realise that the 20th Anniversary Logo has to feature on our products, however I am having real difficulty placing it on my designs. This is predominantly because I cant find a high quality version and I just don't like the whole composition. So I have decided to take it upon myself to recreate it. I am not planning on completely revolutionizing it, just on taking away a few components that I don't feel work too well and perhaps adjusting the colours slightly. I have looked at the brief and others designers creations and can confirm that this is not against any rules, in fact most other people have done it. Below is a simplified version I have created in Illustrator.
