Typefaces

Up until now I had designed my early ideas with the font Bebas Neue. However when I began to experiment further it hit me that the font is nowhere near developed enough for me to use it for a whole range of products. It is only available in one weight, one style and whats most shocking is that it is strictly upper case. So in order for me to overcome this initial problem I would have to find a typeface that resembled it, and its tall x height, but came with more variations. I tried both serif and sans serif fonts, and narrowed down the choices to the ones shown below.

Sans Serif:

Serif:

When it came down to making a decision I was stuck between Steelfish and Kenyan Coffee. Both had their draws, with Kenyan Coffe appearing very bold and eye catching, whilst Steelfish was more elongated and elegant. Ultimately the deciding factor was that Steelfish came in three different weights: regular, bold, extra bold, had an italics variation and had lower case letters. Therefore the typeface that I will be using for the entirety of this project will be Steelfish, its full range can be seen below.

Just to show what it looks like in context there is a screen shot of a possible composition below.
