Early Experiments

I didn't really know where to start with designing, so what I did was take inspiration from one of my design context posts, and think about working on a motif that could be printed on a large scale, flat piece of stock for my sandwich packaging.

I picked quotes from a character from a sitcom, in this case Jenna Maroney from 30 Rock. I then created a very simple design with all the text fitting neatly into certain positions. An image of this very quick composition can be seen to the left.

I then went on to print this design on to a brown paper that I have a large supply of, just to give it more of a texture.

Below are images of the designs printed off. I then wrapped up an item to give this 2D piece more of a 3D look. I also wrapped another piece of blank stock around this to act as the sleeve that I will also have to design. I think this is a pretty good starting point for my designs and I will explore it further.
